Are we alone in this universe? Some dont think so...

(CNN) -- Earth Day may fall later this week, but as far as former NASA astronaut Edgar Mitchell and other UFO enthusiasts are concerned, the real story is happening elsewhere.
Astronaut Edgar Mitchell, shown after his Apollo mission in 1971, claims there "is no doubt we are being visited."

Astronaut Edgar Mitchell, shown after his Apollo mission in 1971, claims there "is no doubt we are being visited."

Mitchell, who was part of the 1971 Apollo 14 moon mission, asserted Monday that extraterrestrial life exists, and that the truth is being concealed by the U.S. and other governments.

He delivered his remarks during an appearance at the National Press Club following the conclusion of the fifth annual X-Conference, a meeting of UFO activists and researchers studying the possibility of alien life forms.

Mankind has long wondered if we're "alone in the universe. [But] only in our period do we really have evidence. No, we're not alone," Mitchell said.

"Our destiny, in my opinion, and we might as well get started with it, is [to] become a part of the planetary community. ... We should be ready to reach out beyond our planet and beyond our solar system to find out what is really going on out there."

Mitchell grew up in Roswell, New Mexico, which some UFO believers maintain was the site of a UFO crash in 1947. He said residents of his hometown "had been hushed and told not to talk about their experience by military authorities." They had been warned of "dire consequences" if they did so.
Don't Miss

* Dog walker 'met man from another planet'
* Hundreds of 'alien' aircraft sightings

But, he claimed, they "didn't want to go to the grave with their story. They wanted to tell somebody reliable. And being a local boy and having been to the moon, they considered me reliable enough to whisper in my ear their particular story."

Roughly 10 years ago, Mitchell claimed, he was finally given an appointment at Pentagon to discuss what he had been told.

An unnamed admiral working for the Joint Chiefs of Staff promised to uncover the truth behind the Roswell story, Mitchell said. The stories of a UFO crash "were confirmed," but the admiral was then denied access when he "tried to get into the inner workings of that process."

The same admiral, Mitchell claimed, now denies the story.

"I urge those who are doubtful: Read the books, read the lore, start to understand what has really been going on. Because there really is no doubt we are being visited," he said.

"The universe that we live in is much more wondrous, exciting, complex and far-reaching than we were ever able to know up to this point in time."

A NASA spokesman denied any cover-up.

"NASA does not track UFOs. NASA is not involved in any sort of cover-up about alien life on this planet or anywhere else -- period," Michael Cabbage said Monday.

Debates have continued about what happened at Roswell. The U.S. Air Force said in 1994 that wreckage recovered there in 1947 was most likely from a balloon-launched classified government project.

Stephen Bassett, head of the Paradigm Research Group (PRG), which hosted the X-Conference, said that the truth about extraterrestrial life is being suppressed because it is politically explosive.

"There is a third rail [in American politics], and that is the UFO question. It is many magnitudes more radioactive than Social Security ever dreamed to be," Bassett said.

So I guess Miss Califonia and Perez Hilton Got Beef Now?

Last night Kristen Dalton of North Carolina was named Miss USA 2009, but no one really cares. The real highlight of the event was Carrie Prejean, Miss California, being questioned by judge Perez Hilton about gay marriage. Here is the transcript of the exchange:

PEREZ: Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?

CARRIE: I think it's great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land that you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage and, you know what, in my country and my family I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anyone out there but that's how I was raised and that's how I think it should be between a man and a woman.

She clearly came down on the side of "opposite marriage," basically saying "no offense but your lifestyle isn't valid." I'm guessing Perez didn't give her his vote, but Carrie still managed to finish as first runner up in the pageant.

Perez later video-blogged about the incident calling her a "dumb bitch."

UPDATE 2:15p: Carrie Prejean went on the "Billy Bush Show" today and told the host that her sister is a "gay rights activist." She's not gay but she "supports gay people, she supports gay marriage. My beliefs have nothing to do with my sister or my mom, or whatever." The contestant also said her sister was not upset by her answer to Perez Hilton's question...

Chris Breezy to be arraigned today! Good Luck Brotha!

Two months after an alleged altercation with girlfriend Rihanna that resulted in his arrest, singer Chris Brown, 19, is due in court Monday (April 6) to be arraigned on felony charges of assault and making criminal threats.

Brown, who has kept a relatively low profile since his February 8 arrest, is also expected to enter a plea at today's arraignment, which is a formal reading of the criminal complaint against the singer.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles District Attorney's office reached prior to the appearance said that the court did not know if Brown's attorneys would enter a plea on Monday or ask for another extension.

Sandi Gibbons, the spokesperson for the DA's office, said that it is up to the court to decide what sentence Brown will face, but that sentencing guidelines call for anything from probation to probation with jail time, up to a maximum of four years and eight months in federal prison.

Brown's attorney, Mark Geragos, did not return calls for comment at press time.

Quoting an anonymous source, TMZ reported Sunday that Brown's lawyer and the prosecutor in the case have been engaged in "serious" plea-bargain negotiations and are close to reaching a deal. The site also claimed that Brown will plead not guilty in the case, though the plea could be just a formality. Other unidentified sources reportedly told the site that Rihanna has said very clearly that she does not want to testify against Brown and wants him to cop a plea. The sources said she traveled to her home island of Barbados over the weekend to get as far away from the case as possible.

Though she's not required to be present at the arraignment and is not expected to attend, Rihanna's attorney has said that she is planning on being a cooperating witness in the case and, if subpoenaed, will testify against Brown.

After reportedly reconciling last month, the couple have not been seen together in public for several weeks. Brown did not enter a plea at his arraignment on March 5, where his lawyer asked for a continuance in the case. If Rihanna refuses to testify, experts have said it could jeopardize the case because her statements to police can only be used against Brown if she agrees to provide testimony.

Gibbons said that if Brown enters a plea at the arraignment, the next step in the process would be a preliminary hearing, at which time the prosecutor will present the state's evidence and Brown's attorneys would have a chance to examine the evidence and make motions and cross-examine the witnesses. At the end of that hearing, the judge typically determines if there is sufficient evidence to move the case to trial.

Among the evidence prosecutors will likely introduce is a copy of a disturbing police report detailing the timeline of the alleged altercation, which was reportedly set off when Rihanna found a text message on Brown's phone from a woman with whom the singer had a previous sexual relationship.

Eminem talks new video and album release

Major news! With Eminem’s sixth album, Relapse, around the corner (it’s due May 19), and the accompanying single, “We Made You,” just days from release, we nabbed a super-exclusive interview with the man who has become hip-hop’s most notorious living spitter.

We catch up with Em after a five-year hiatus from the spotlight — a hiatus during which he’s battled addiction, lost Kim to a second divorce and lost his best friend, DeShaun “Proof” Holton to gun violence. But Marshall Mathers is a survivor. We’ve known that from day one, when he broke out of the obscurity portrayed in 8 Mile to establish himself as a force to be reckoned with in the rap game. In other words, he’s seen too much in this life to let tragedy disrupt his flow.

In the clip below, that same force — now a flat-out legend — checks in from the set of “We Made You,” the Relapse single slated for an MTV premiere on Tuesday (April 7). From the comfort of a chair next to a console that looks like it could be part of the Star Trek set, what looks like a brown-haired (!!!) Em, minus the baby fat, fills us in on his choice to re-enlist the services of video director Joseph Kahn (Britney Spears, Chris Brown, 50 Cent, U2). Apparently the “Without Me” director is particularly attuned to the essence of Eminem, making him the perfect choice to guide Em out of hiatus and into a fresh video incarnation of his trademark sound.

Em also gets into the psychology of “We Made You,” revealing it to be a mind game designed to seduce every woman alive. Watch, love and get hyped for Eminem’s exclusive MTV video premiere of “We Made You” on Tuesday!
